Highlights of our CCM-S System

data transfer

DATA TRANSFER

Worldwide standardized, fieldbus-independent IO-Link technology as communication standard.

individual measurement of chain segments

SLE-FUNCTION

Individual sections of the chain strand can be measured separately and evaluated for deviations from the average elongation. (Special connecting links required, sold separately)

CCM-S Add-on Sensoren

ADD-ON SENSORS

Two additional sensors measure, on one hand, the chain temperature and, on the other hand, impacts against the CCM-S sliding shoe.

presentation of measurement

PRESENTATION

Measurement results can be transferred via USB to a computer and displayed using the software provided by iwis.

Different speed ranges are no problem

SPEED

Different speed ranges and changing load directions pose no problem for the CCM-S.

simplex, duplex, triplex chain everything is possible

CHAIN SIZES

The CCM-S can be used for Simplex, Duplex, and Triplex chains alike, as it detects only a single strand of the chain in each case.

precise measurements without any direct contact

CONTACT-FREE

A precise measurement is performed contactless and without any direct intervention in the chain drive.

quick and easy integration

INTEGRATION

The CCM-S can be quickly and easily integrated into a wide range of chain applications – even retrofitted without the need for special add-on components.

Operating Conditions

  • Standard industrial environments
(For highly abrasive or extreme applications, the CCM-S must be specially configured.)

  • Operating temperature range: 0 °C to 70 °C

  • For chains with double-sided attachments or extended pins, a separate evaluation by iwis is required

  • Protection class: IP67

  • Resistant to non-magnetic contamination

  • If the device is to be attached to a customer interface, we recommend that damping elements should be fitted (e.g. between the housing and the mounting plate).
  • We recommend that the CCM-S system is installed at the tight strand; Installation at the slack strand is also possible under certain circumstances
  • USB connection to PC interface
(Connection via USB connector 2.0 Type A)
  • External power supply as per IO-Link specification: 18-30V

Note

The CCM-S system is only used to provide information. It is expressly stated that the system does not protect against chain drive failures and machine stoppages. The CCM-S system also does not indicate the probability of future chain elongations. The customer is aware that the CCM-S system is preset to a chain elongation value of 3% as reference value. iwis has preset this reference value without reference to concrete applications. The customer shall define the reference value themselves and bears the responsibility for testing whether the reference value is non-critical in the specific application scenario or whether it could lead to critical situations or damage resulting from impermissible chain elongation. On request, and following consultation, iwis will set the preset reference value of 3% to another value specified by the customer. The customer can, however, also set the value applicable to their application themselves using the supplied software.

Frequently asked questions about the CCM-S System

The CCM-S can be used for all common roller chains from 1/2" pitch to 2" pitch in both ANSI and British standard. This applies to single and multiple strand chains (simplex/duplex/triplex) as well as to different materials and coatings. Attention: The CCM-S can NOT be used for leaf chains!
The central function is the recording of the average wear elongation of a chain. Furthermore, many other additional functions are integrated in the CCM-S, such as: SLE function (Segment Link Elongation), Temperature monitoring, Shock monitoring, Running time and running distance, Chain speed monitoring
The latest version of the operating instructions can be found on this website. It contains all important information.
Please fill out the project planning form on this Website. We will be happy to advise you afterwards.
Possible speeds are 0.02 m/s to 5 m/s. However, speeds from 0.05 m/s are recommended.
Yes, the CCM-S will work in both continuous operation and asynchronous operation chain running mode.
No, the CCM-S can measure in both running directions. However, in the case of chains running in parallel, care should be taken to ensure that the CCM-S units are installed in parallel.
The CCM-S requires 0.5 m distance to the next sprocket. The distance can be significantly reduced by using chain guides. Please contact us in case of doubt: [email protected]
If the chain is guided and sufficient tensioned in the slack span, the CCM-S can also be used there. The installation in the loaded span is preferable.
The CCM-S can be used in environments from 0 to 70 °C (32 to 158 °F). When using the SLE additional function, the permissible temperature range due to the magnets is 0 to 60°C (32 to 140 °F).
The SLE function (SLE = Segment Link Elongation) offers the possibility to see the elongation of individual chain segments or the elongation of the individual links of the chain. Since chains do not always wear homogeneously, this information can be particularly useful for precise applications. This function is pre-installed on every device. All you need is 1 to 2 magnets (depending on the configuration) to attach to only one chain link in the desired chain as a reference point. Standard magnet sizes can be found in our operating instructions with instructions for mounting. For queries / special requests please contact us at: [email protected]
For this optional feature, two magnets on a chain are need to be placed on one link of this chain. As soon as the mounted magnets on the chain pass through the CCM-S, the SLE function is activated. After a few chain cycles the SLE data is generated automatically. These are available at iwis on request. Please contact us at [email protected]
Yes the SLE magnets also work highly lubricated applications. If any chemical cleaning products are used please contact us at: [email protected]
The CCM-S volume is approximately 250x60x20 mm³.
No, the CCM-S will be delivered already linearized at iwis to achieve high accuracy. Only the assembly must be carried out according to the operating instructions.
On the iwis CCM-S website you will find the operating instructions and videos for installation.
The screws should be tightened to 10 Nm.
The CCM-S requires a cable with 4-pin M8 connector. You will find more detailed specifications in our operating instructions. Cables in different lengths are available on request at iwis. Please contact us: [email protected]
The pin assignment of the CCM-S connectors for the cables can be found in the CCM-S operating manual. This can be downloaded from this website
Yes, the CCM-S needs to get connected additionally with 24 V voltage via the IO-Link interface when reading out through the USB port. Cables are available at iwis. Please contact us: [email protected]
Please install the latest monitoring and driver software at: www.iwis.com/ccm-s. If you need additional support, please contact us at: [email protected]
The iwis monitoring software can be downloaded free of charge from our CCM-S product page.
Please download the IODD from this website to your system to be able to integrate the CCM-S into your system via the IO-Link interface.
In addition to the CCM-S you need a suitable IO-Link cable (available at iwis), an IODD (downloadable on the CCM-S product page ) and an IO-Link master that is suitable for your system. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us: [email protected]
To use the CCM-S to its full extent you need per chain: 1x CCM-S (for your desired chain size), 1x CCM-S USB cable, 1x CCM-S IO-Link 24V cable (in the desired length) and 2x suitable magnets.
