Environmental Management and Protection
Environmental and energy management are important elements of our operational management approach.
The iwis Group defines the overarching sustainability framework and strategic objectives. The operational implementation of environmental and energy management is the responsibility of the respective sites and business units and is aligned with the Group-wide strategic direction.
The individual locations take into account their specific processes, environmental aspects, legal requirements, and technical conditions, and derive appropriate operational objectives and measures from them.
Resource Efficiency
The efficient use of energy, materials and other resources is an important part of our environmental management.
As part of their operational responsibilities, our sites assess opportunities to further improve resource use and operational environmental impacts. Depending on the respective processes and technical conditions, this may include measures to improve material and energy efficiency, prevent and recover waste, and optimize operational processes.
For overarching topics such as climate, energy and the circular economy, the iwis Group’s sustainability strategy and corresponding strategic programs provide the framework. Specific operational implementation takes place at the respective sites.
Energy Management
Energy management is an important part of our operational environmental management.
Our locations analyse relevant energy use and identify appropriate opportunities to improve energy efficiency and energy-related processes.
Depending on the respective site and technical conditions, measures may include:
- improving energy efficiency in production and infrastructure
- optimising energy use
- improving energy-related processes and equipment
- evaluating suitable energy technologies
- increasing the use of renewable energy where appropriate.
Operational energy objectives and measures are managed by the respective locations and aligned with the strategic direction of the iwis Group.
Measure us by our performance.
Certifications
Structured management systems support the implementation and continuous development of environmental and energy management at iwis.
Relevant iwis locations operate certified management systems based on recognised international standards, including:
- ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
- ISO 50001 – Energy Management
The management systems support the systematic identification of environmental and energy-related aspects, the definition of responsibilities, monitoring of relevant processes and the implementation of improvement measures.
The scope and certification status may differ between individual iwis locations.
Independent certifications provide evidence that the respective management systems at certified locations meet the requirements of the applicable standards.
As certification scopes and validity periods may change, current certificates and information on the respective certified locations are available in our
Literature section.
Continuous Improvement
Environmental and energy management are continuously developed at operational level.
The respective sites regularly review relevant processes, objectives and improvement opportunities and adapt their measures where appropriate.
Group-level coordination and reporting support the alignment of operational environmental and energy management with the sustainability objectives of the iwis Group.
Detailed information on the Group-wide sustainability strategy, environmental performance and strategic objectives is available in our current Sustainability Report.
