JWIS - Chain Breaker

Separate roller chains quickly, safely and cleanly

The JWIS chain Breaker enables fast and efficient separation of roller chains according to ISO 606 and factory standards – delivering full leverage and consistently reproducible results in daily workshop operations.

The machine can be secured in a vice or bolted to a workbench. For optimal operation, it should be mounted at the front edge of the bench to ensure unrestricted lever movement. Integrated support surfaces on both sides facilitate the handling of longer chains.

Ergonomic installation and fast work processes

The JWIS Chain Breaker is designed for fast chain maintenance: it can be clamped in a vice or permanently mounted on a workbench – positioning it at the front edge of the bench ensures the full swivel range of the hand lever.

This reduces the required operating force and increases process reliability when separating chains in series applications or during recurring maintenance tasks.

One Tool – Two Chain Systems

Thanks to the five marked iwis tool sets integrated in the rotatable tool plate, different chain sizes can be separated in a structured and efficient manner. When correctly adjusted, the machine enables the disassembly of both chains with shouldered pins and chains with plain pins – a clear advantage for technical buyers aiming to manage product variety while maintaining service standardization.

FAQ

How to correctly separate roller chains according to ISO 606

With a single lever action, a complete outer link is pressed out of the chain. Insert the chain with the rollers into the appropriate support fork so that the two pressure pins are positioned centrally on the rivets of the outer link.
Prerequisite: The rivet heads on one side of the outer link must be ground off. The pin assembly can then be pressed out using the lever mechanism. Without a grinding device, the pins can also be driven out using a punch; however, this carries a risk of bushing damage and may result in increased wear. Note from the operating instructions: The machine can also be used to disassemble conveyor chains of corresponding dimensions with attachments or angle brackets. It is not suitable for 3/8" x 5/32" chains.
