Long Chain Life through efficient Relubrication
Regular maintenance and lubrication are essential for minimizing wear and maximizing the service life of the chain drive. Operating conditions such as tensile forces, temperatures, contamination, and aggressive media determine the maintenance and lubrication intervals, as well as the type of relubrication required.
With regular relubrication, the chain link primarily operates in the mixed-friction range. Missing lubrication or improperly selected relubricants lead to boundary friction, which causes fretting corrosion and increased chain wear.
Effective relubrication depends not only on the right lubricant, but also on the proper lubrication technique.
THE RIGHT INITIAL LUBRICANT
The iwis lubricant portfolio offers the right initial lubricant for a wide range of applications. The initial lubrication plays a key role in ensuring controlled initial elongation and a long chain service life, and should therefore be selected with care. In addition to the lubricant itself, proper application is also essential for the chain's long-term performance in continuous operation.
Several factors are crucial when selecting the appropriate initial lubricant.

EXTENDING CHAIN SERVICE LIFE WITH THE RIGHT RELUBRICATION
If you detect insufficient lubrication on your chain, we recommend the following procedure:
Clean the chain using a very low-viscosity oil or a suitable cleaning agent. This will help dissolve particles and wash old lubricant and other contaminants out of the joints. Once the chain is clean, it should be relubricated with a suitable lubricant.
