Super Longlife – JWIS SL Chain: Low-Maintenance Precision Chains

iwis SL chains are precision chains from the Super Longlife series.

JWIS SL chains are designed for applications with high requirements for wear resistance as well as breaking strength and fatigue strength. Specially treated pin surfaces contribute to high wear resistance, while the chain joint design is engineered to reduce corrosion and fretting corrosion in the chain joint.

A pre-stretching process tailored to the respective chain and taking into account the applicable DIN/ISO requirements supports defined chain performance. Depending on the application, SL chains are also available with various JWIS initial lubricants.

The Super Longlife technology was originally developed by iwis for highly loaded timing drives and subsequently adapted for industrial chain applications.

SL chains are supplied with a high-performance initial lubricant that helps to reduce wear and – depending on the application, load and operating conditions – can support a long service life.

  2. The diffusion zone is a load-bearing, hard layer with high strength. Together with the surface layer, it provides wear protection.
  3. The base material forms the ductile core of the pin.
